"The delicate and exquisite horse is itself a work of art." ~ Bertrand Leclair

You might be interested in our horse sponsorship program. You can adopt a horse, paying for their full care for a whole year. The cost is $600 for the year ($250 for the minis), and that money covers the horse's general veterinary care, having their feet trimmed, being wormed, and their hay and feed. The horses that have already been adopted have a
tiny star next to their name. If you would like to sponsor one of our horses, please click here to contact us.

Rachel Old-Stockwell IN THE NEWS: Family's Tragedy Leads To Healing

The family of Rachel Old-Stockwell gifted Reins of Life a memorial to honor her memory and also her life.

Rachel was 40 years old, mother of a young daughter, teacher of special needs children, and lover of horses. She was killed in a car accident caused by a drunk driver on Mother's Day 2009.

Reins of life, a therapeutic riding center in Martin, Georgia, was the perfect place for Rachel's family to honor her memory and to help spread the joy of horses helping children.

Curtis is a wonderful children's' horse. He loves little kids; because of that and his weak back, we reserve him for use with young or light children. Camp and special events are his specialty, but he is also a valuable ground horse because he responds so quickly to his handler.

Boss is not what you’d call the sharpest knife in the drawer, but his great heart and kindness win over even the toughest kids. He is our Autistic specialist; he seems to relate to kids with Autism at a very deep level and draws them out of themselves. White Cloud is still very young, so he has just started his formal training. However, he has already been very valuable to us as a psychotherapy horse. He has also been doing groundwork with groups and seems to enjoy working with people.

We use Skip for theraputic riding. Skip came to us a few years ago Lilly has already been trained to be ridden by small children and has her own little mini saddle. She is also used for a variety of groundwork exercises, especially for Special Ed students. We will also be training her to drive a cart and will probably breed her next year. At 2 years old, Levi is the youngest horse on the farm, so he’s not able to do a lot of jobs right now. However, he does work in our equine assisted psychotherapy program, especially working with parents and teens.

Zepher is one of the most versatile horses we have. She has never let us down, no matter what we ask her to do. She is used in every program we do except hippotherapy and that's only because she has a walk that's too fast for that work. We use Spirit in almost every program we have, from camps to hippotherapy Casey works in our EAP and camp programs. Casey came to us from a horse rescue organization and has been winning hearts ever since he got here about two years ago. He seems to prefer working with boys and has been valuable to us as a therapy horse, especially with troubled youth.

Elph is a very well-rounded horse with a lot of training so he is very versatile! He is a great riding horse, so he is used the most in those programs. As a miniature horse, Noel won’t be ridden much, but she is used for a variety of groundwork exercises, es- pecially for Special Ed students, who love to hug and kiss her! We will also be training her to drive a cart and will probably breed her next year. Milagro will always be a therapy horse who works on the ground with our clients. He can’t be ridden as he broke his elbow as a yearling in the wild and has a permanent limp. Milagro is a small horse with a really big heart.

Whatever you need done, Pepper can do! He has a personality as big as his size, which is 2000 pounds! We use Pepper for everything. Because Rabbit has no vision in her right eye, we don’t use her for any youth riding programs. However, she has a great heart for kids with emotional issues so we use her for EAP. Velvet came from a very abusive background and so she has a special empathy for abused kids. She has worked hard to overcome her past and is good at helping kids do the same. We use her for a variety of groundwork exercises, especially for Special Ed students. We are also training her to drive a cart.
